I am always a bit afraid when reading a sequel, mainly because of the fear of not remembering the original work. In this case it came back strongly as the characters in the sequel continued developing a story that was definitely well stored in my mind. The creation of an organized, religion-free society was interestingly developed as well as the Compu-Court, which cast doubts about a perfect computer trying to cater to all human needs.
Martin and Panther did remind me of vampires due to their lack of need to breathe, though with normal human feelings.
It was good reading that there is always hope for Mother Earth in the mind of the author. And the "time of the Great Sadness and the New Beginning" was a beautiful way of describing the motive of this good story.
Mr. Schofield has the ability of describing battles with such precision that the reader may feel like a close participant.
BTW, the concept of "joined consciousness" was quite unique creating a take-off from Jung's collective unconscious put to practical use.
When I read End my first reaction was: I hope not!

"Trophy Rescue" is the second novel in Paul Schofields Trophy series.
This is a Sci-Fi series taking place 475 years into the future. Earth has had catastrophic problems and space has become not only the final frontier but the place of safety. Moving onto other planets has become the salvation of mankind. But when things go horribly wrong in a culture it is ripe for a takeover by the strong and powerful. Those who's agenda's may not be as altruistic as they may like society to believe.
This book contains a good deal of fun, futuristic technology, believable robotic technology, battles, action and interesting characters. It is also well written.
As I read the second novel in the series I could see a tightening of Mr. Schofields writing, improved dialogue and character development along with a easier style. He filled in the back story well enough by using character development rather than too many pages of introductory knowledge so that the reader is able to "catch up" with the story line without having read the previous novel. One of the things I think is important in a series.
This is a smooth fast read that keeps you turning the pages and leaving you wanting more. I am eagerly awaiting the next novel in the series.
Read time 3 to 4 hours

Another cliff-hanger...left waiting for the next installment..."DECISION"...Fun, exciting, and not to worry about having to skip thru filth and poor, limited lack of vocabulary.
Teophy Rescue is is a fascinating novel mixing fiction with science fiction. In places the grammer is a bit peculiar. Good entertaining reading
Thoroughly enjoyed this 2nd installment in the Trophy Saga. Character development is great and the story line flows well. My only problem is; I read much faster than Paul Schofield can write...waiting for installment 3.Trophy Rescue
The satisfaction and anticipation set in book 1 was well cared for in book 2. The story and characters grow and become better rounded and complex. This is one of the best bits of Sci -fiction I've read in years. It has restored my interest to drift. I will recommend this to the grandkids (there's not much that we can share in this medium)
The second book in the Trophy Saga shows maturity in writing. The first book in the series was very good but of course, the characters all had to get established so that takes quite a while just to fill in the 400 year background of happenings on Earth. Rescue now has a chance to develop the story and the characters plus getting the reader glued to the pages! I can't wait for the third book so I can watch the characters development plus maybe the introduction of any new characters(???) Of course being from the Gallatin Canyon area and loving the mountains and animals helps me root for the good guys even more!
This is the second book in the Trophy Saga. I read the first book and was very entertained by the future world created as well as the characters in the story. This installment picks right off where book one left off. Thoughtfully, the author provided an excellent synopsis of the first book. Although it had been several months since I read "Trophy", I skipped the synopsis and dived right in. The addition of the synopsis is a nice touch for the first time reader, but the I think the second book would thrill the first time reader of the series without any preamble.
The action in this book is outstanding, with lots of subplots, new shadowy characters, and settings that keeps building the intensity up. By the second half of the story I found it nearly impossible to put down. This series is most addictive and enjoyable. In more than a few ways, it is like those old text adventure games by infocom like "Planet Fall" in terms of its addictive qualities and mysterious settings. Add to that gripping space battles and spell binding secret missions and you have a definite scifi buff guilty pleasure series. After reading two books from this series I am definitely looking forward to a future installment. I am reminded of my addition to the Dune series by Frank Herbert. However, unlike the Dune trilogy where each book grabbed me less and less...so far this series seems to get better with each installment. I can hardly wait for a third!
